Thank you to our 761 campers served this summer who helped to make Bearskin Meadow Camp and Camp de los Niños 2014 incredible! In ten short weeks, we experienced hundreds of diabetes firsts, thousands of finger pokes and injections, endless carbohydrate counted meals and snacks carb, late nights, early mornings, and an incredible amount of life changing moments. Please continue to help us by completing your surveys sent via Survey monkey over the past four weeks. We need your feedback! Help us secure funding and provide life changing programs but letting us know areas for improvement and what we did well.

Technology and T1D – Learn More About Lifechanging T1D Management Tools!

Join us for a family retreat weekend October 24-October 26 at Camp Jones Gulch for DYF’s Annual Spooktakular Family Retreat. For the parent participants, we are pleased to present keynote Trang Ly, Pediatric Endocrinologist and visiting scholar to the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes at Stanford University. Trang will be providing an update on closed-loop technologies, including a review of the closed-loop research study conducted at multiple diabetes camps this summer. Also joining us is Tony Paskins, camp dad and Oakland Fire Lieutenant. Tony’s son has T1D and their family uses the CGM in the Cloud to remotely monitor blood sugars. Tony will be addressing the benefits and challenges of setting up the system, and sharing his personal experiences as a parent who has the capability of remotely monitoring blood sugar numbers from afar. For our campers there is lots of fun in store. From Trick or Treating, Pumpkin Carving and Adventure Activities to Dining Hall Songs and First Lists, this weekend is a diabetes re-charge that will help keep families going all year long.
