DYF’s diabetes education and care is lead by the Diabetic Youth Foundation’s Medical Director, Dr. Mary Simon. A long-time person with diabetes, and certified diabetologist, Dr. Mary Simon attends and teaches at all of our overnight programs. She also supervises a team of top-notch health care professionals from health care organizations including: Kaiser Permanente, Children’s Oakland Hospital, and University California of San Francisco (UCSF). Our health care professionals include: Certified Diabetes Educators; Endocrinologists; General Practitioners; Physician’s Assistants; Registered Nurses; Dietitians; Licensed Social Workers; Nursing Students and Medical Students.
By being together in a supportive and unique environment, our particpants gain the knowledge that they are not alone with diabetes. The friendships created at each of our programs are deep and often extend for lifetimes.
